Consultation & Commissioning Process

The Arts Project Manager held a seminar with the Old Town Residents Association during which the underpinning philosophy for the project was discussed and developed in partnership with this community.

The local community were invited to make comment on the shortlist of artist proposals through the public display of the proposals and a voting machine.

One artist appointed following a Public Art Works feasiblity study. Other artists selected through limited and open competitions. Shortlisted proposals were on public display in a town centre shop for one week prior to selection. A voting machine encouraged members of the public to indicate their preferences. The public preferences reflected, on the whole, the choices of the selection panel.
