The artists involved have collaborated with the hospital design team and community to create work that is considered to be both challenging and sensitive to its health-care context. The artworks are incorporated in the following areas:

- courtyards
- main circulation routes
- main waiting areas

Consultation & Commissioning Process
For this project artists were selected through three different routes.- Open competition advertised through SAC and Artists Newsletter
- Direct invitation of shortlisted artists from a longlist created by PACE
- Limited Design competition for one of the courtyard areas
PACE managed the commissioning process:
Outcomes
The project resulted in the inclusion of site specific artworks by 15 artists:- Space Place: 75 aluminium coloured poles with fibre optic lights illuminating 40 poles at night
- Coloured Windows: coloured film on south facing concourse windows
- Sculptural seating: architectural plywood.
- The Ontological Garden: stylised trees native to Scotland
- Slinky Tower: 1.5 tonnes stainless steel sculpture, 12m high with fibreoptic lights.
- Feast: family of coloured plaster sculptures on the courtyard roof
- Mr Sandman: series of revolving and static circular chambers set into the wall of the A&E waiting area
- Shakin’ All Over: Eight red metal boxes filled with “collections” and mounted on springs to encourage shoogling
- Postcard Journey: Lightboxes illuminating images of patients home locations across Grampian, the Highlands and Islands
*Environmental Graphics: inlaid vinyl flooring; fun facts and graphics on walls for signage; columns of body facts - Lenticulars: two-way photographs of objects revealing their x-ray image
- Lenticular Faces: 30 children’s portraits throughout the hospital
- Waiting Area Seating: sculptural seating
- Paper Constructions: deconstructed, incised and reconstructed found paper suspended in layers within a perspex box
- Healing Apron: Painted mild steel wire and aluminium
- Thank You Dress: Painted mild steel wire and stitched aluminium
