Ben Spencer is a freelance consultant to public, independent and voluntary sectors, and is based in Glasgow. He advises on developing art and architecture initiatives that cover a wide range of projects including research, strategic policy advice, feasibility studies, project development, funding, management, assessment and evaluation, and critical writing.
Ben has recently been appointed by the Scottish Arts Council (SAC) as an external evaluator for the Artists Work in Public Places (AWiPP) scheme. The role, as an external consultant, will be to look at the various processes used to deliver a number of public art projects funded by the SAC through AWiPP and how they link to current and developing public art practice within Scotland and beyond.
In this Blog, Ben will contribute monthly updates of his thoughts as the evaluation process develops, focusing each time on an issue that has arisen as a result of his experiences.
