Artachat
Rocca Gutteridge is studying a Masters in Contemporary Art Theory at Edinburgh College of Art, with her core focus on the perceptions of community art in Scotland. She recently devised the research and discussion project www.artachat.co.uk , a new initiative that aims to foster an environment for the exchange of ideas and debate and act as a platform for further research.
Artachat discussion sessions are held Word of Mouth Café in Leith. At each session an artist is asked to speak either about their work, a subject concerning their artistic practice, or to a raise a more general issue about being a practising artist in the UK or abroad. Rocca encourages an open dialogue around the topics raised, and hopes to keep the broader discussion similarly open, using social networking sites and forums to allow others to benefit from and contribute to the conversation.
Rocca approached Public Art Scotland with the Artachat project and we were delighted to offer her a PAR+RS Blog to continue her conversations though the Artachat project. She’ll be using this space to post outcomes of the Word of Mouth sessions as well as to further expand the network of discussion, so please don’t hesitate to comment, contribute, and converse right here.
