Wasps/Culture and Sport Glasgow Dusseldorf Exchange 2009

Any artist based in Glasgow is welcome to apply for this opportunity to spend August and September 2009 in Dusseldorf. On arriving, you will meet a representative from the Kulturamt der Landeshauptstadt (Dusseldorf’s City Council) who will introduce you to a number of artists and cultural institutions in the city. An exhibition will be arranged at the end of your stay with the opening night being mid-late september 2009. Invitation cards will be created for the opening night.

Location
The successful applicant will be given a guest studio within the Kunstleforderung at Kulturamt der Landeshauptstadt, in Dusseldorf, Germany. The live-work studio is in a converted factory which houses lots of other artists. At 80 square metres the space is open plan, incorporating a living area with a leather sofa, sleeping area with double bed, a well equipped kitchen area with a table that seats 6 people and a toilet with a shower. The working space is next to the living area. The studio is in the Bilk area of the city which is close to local amenities and on a direct train line to the city. A bicycle is also included for you to get around the city.
Budget
The successful applicant will be paid a monthly allowance of € 750, a budget of € 300 for materials and an allowance of up to € 200 for travel. The representative at Kulturamt will help you to book your travel. There will be no charge for the living/working space, but the successful applicant is resposible for his/her own living expenses. an artist card will be given to the guest artist to allow free entrance to galleries and museums around Dusseldorf.
