Residency: Skowhegan School of Painting & Sculpture

Skowhegan is an intensive nine-week summer residency program for emerging visual artists. Established in 1946, Skowhegan seeks each year to bring together a gifted and diverse group of individuals who have demonstrated a commitment to art-making and inquiry to create the most stimulating and rigorous environment possible for a concentrated period of artistic creation, interaction and growth.

Application Deadline: February 1, 2008.

2008 Summer Session: June 14 – August 16, 2008

RESIDENT FACULTY: Francis Cape, Charles Gaines, Harmony Hammond, Yun-Fe Ji, Julianne Swartz,

VISITING FACULTY: Jo Baer, Burt Barr, Andrea Fraser, Sharon Lockhart, Josiah McElheny, Sina Najafi, Paul Mellon Distinguished Fellow.

Sixty-five participants are accepted annually. An academic background in art is not required. Admission is based primarily on the review of work samples. Financial Assistance is available for tuition, room and board.
